Web sign in with Windows Identity Foundation - Monday, April 05, 2010

Windows Identity Foundation (WIF) is a key part of the identity management framework (codename “Geneva”) from Microsoft that can be used to support claims based security. The framework provides ASP.NET support for web sign in, single sign on, and identity federation scenarios with passive web browser clients, as well as being used by active clients and for securing Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). Windows Identity Foundation will be a key component of the Microsoft security framework in the future and will be supported by products such as SharePoint 2010. This presentation will focus on using WIF in various ASP.NET web sign in scenarios, as well as providing an overview of claims-based identity management; it will also briefly mention Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) 2.0 and CardSpace 2.0, the other parts of Microsoft’s identity management solution.
